Large, ornately shaped shawl chest from the Charles X period, crafted from mottled maple with beautiful flamed grain and a warm honey-colored patina.
The front, sides, and back are adorned with the soft curves characteristic of furniture from the Charles X period, circa 1820–1830.
The domed lid features an ornamental monogram made of steel nails, likely consisting of intertwined letters.
Surrounding the lock is a motif of foliage and volutes, also made of steel nails.
The interior is entirely lined with marbled wallpaper in shades of brown, burgundy, and cream.
Handles on each side.
Please note: the lock works, but the box does not lock because the latches on the front plate are missing.
This box was restored in our workshops; the veneer, patina, and interior were refinished.
