La Brioche After Chardin, Dated 1880
La Brioche (or Le Dessert), after the painting by painter Jean Siméon Chardin in 1763.
In the center of the composition, a brioche decorated with a branch of orange blossom is placed on a plate.
This is accompanied by peaches, cherries, spoon cookies, a bottle of liqueur (or honey) and a sugar bowl in Sèvres porcelain with floral decoration on a celestial blue background.
Oil on canvas signed lower left and dated 1880.
Original gilt frame.
