19th-century prison-style lamp made of painted sheet metal, decorated on each side with a gilded caduceus on a green background—an attribute of Mercury, the symbol of commerce and trade.
Cylindrical shaft.
Square base with stepped edges.
New electrical wiring: gold-plated brass socket for an E27 screw-in bulb, new wiring.
The power supply is routed through the interior of the base.
Its pointed oval lampshade was crafted from a Manuel Canovas fabric featuring a geisha motif.
This lampshade shape has the advantage of not taking up much space because it is shallow, making it ideal for console tables, mantels, and similar surfaces…

Note: the paint shows signs of age.
