Watercolor on paper, signed “Antoine Barbier” in the lower right corner; watercolorist born in 1859 in St. Symphorien-de-Lay, died in 1948 in Lyon.
He became a prominent figure in Lyon’s art scene.
He was a co-founder of the Société des Aquarellistes Lyonnais in 1934;
he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français.
This watercolor depicts a countryside landscape identified on the reverse: Toulon-sur-Arroux, the “Étang des Fées” (Fairy Pond).
