Carcel Lamp In Painted Sheet Metal And Gilt Bronze, 19th Century, Height 81 Cm

“Carcel” lamp in sheet metal painted to imitate marble, forming a stylized Corinthian column.
Antique oil lamp from the Restoration period (circa 1830), electrified.
The fluted column-shaped stem is encircled by a grained laurel wreath in chased gilt bronze.
The square base is topped with neoclassical “egg and dart” ornaments and acanthus leaves (in the corners), also in chased gilt bronze.
New electrification : gilt brass socket for an E27 screw-in bulb, new wiring.
The power supply is routed through the inside of the base.
Its rectangular lampshade was created from a fabric by Manuel Canovas, “The Roofs of Paris.”
