Set of four Guignol puppets in papier-mâché from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Original clothes.
They rest on blackened turned wooden displays.
Note : the gendarme’s hands are missing.

Guignol is a French glove puppet created in Lyon around 1808 by Laurent Mourguet. The term also refers to the comic puppet theater in which Guignol is the main character, forming with Gnafron and Madelon the recurring trio of pieces from the classical repertoire.
