Carcel lamp in painted sheet metal imitation marble in dark brown color and brass from the 19th century.
Octagonal base.
New electrification: gilded brass socket for E27 screw bulb, new wire.
The power supply is mounted inside the base.
Its Spanish square lampshade was created from a “Monuments d’Egypte” fabric from the house of Braquenié.
It is a reproduction of the eponymous canvas, printed with a copper roller at the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Josas around 1808. The designer was inspired by the works of the painter Louis-François Cassas. Following Napoleon Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaigns in 1798, France experienced an unprecedented craze for this civilization.
