Its Spanish square lampshade was custom-made from a “Monuments d’Egypte” fabric from the Braquenié house.
It is a reproduction of the eponymous canvas, printed with a copper roller at the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Josas around 1808. The designer was inspired by the works of the painter Louis-François Cassas. Following Napoleon Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaigns in 1798, France experienced an unprecedented craze for this civilization.
