“Mouchette” tray in painted sheet metal from the Directoire period, late 18th century.
It is decorated in its center with a lute, a thyrsus (main attribute of Dionysus and Bacchus is a symbol of prosperity, fertility and hedonism) and foliage painted in gold on an oxblood background.
Its periphery is decorated with a garland of stylized flowers and foliage.
